CONCILIATION FAILS. fflj Telezraph-Press Association.! Diinedin, August 26. ' The Conciliation Council to-day heard the tramways dispute. TIIO men demanded certain alterations in tho agreement and an increase in the wages representing Is. per .day per man. The corporation offered to renew all the present terms of the agreement, but to give the wages as provided in tho Christohurch award. The assessors for the men reduced their demand by offering to accopt 6d. rise all round. .This was refused and a. deadlock- was reached, and the case in consequence is being referred to the Arbitration Court. , •
