PATRIOTIC RAFFLES
MUST COMPLY WITH THE LAW. In Parliament yesterday afternoon the . Minister of Internal Affairs (tho Hon. G. W. Russell), in reply to a question, said that-the Govornment had already given instructions .that all those raffles where'the proceeds were entirely for patriotic purposes, and which wero in progress on August 12, may bo oom-, pleted, but that no new raffles, unless, /thoy complied with the law, would ho permitted. The Police Department has been instructed to take action accordingly. . •
