THE /MARINE PAR ADE. The Citj.Council docked last evening that thfe, , jty Engineer's proposals for the disposal of the City street sweepings shovld be adopted, and also that steps shj Jd he taken to secure the consent of-£ie Wellington Harbour Board aiid the, jjtarine Department to.the plan of the proposal:— . . 1. That a gullv at Queen's Park to the north of the custodian's; residence shall be culverted and used for. 1 the deposits of street' sweepings and similar waste niaterial. 2. That the earliest pos- ' sible steps shall be taken to construct a sea' wall from Oriental Bay round Point' Jerningham in advance ' of possible reclamation, which should be done with street sweepings and similar material. This will, permit the construction of a marine .parade of any. desired width up .to 50 feet, and the cost of the wall would be saved in time by the difference in the cost of haulage, be-
sides effecting a Very desirable improvement in this road .which is dangerously narrow for some considerable distance.
