HARBOUR AFFAIRS

MEETING OF THE BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Harbour Board was held last night. There were present: Messrs. E. W. Jones (who presided in the absence of the chairman), R. A. Wright. M.P., A. H. Hindmarsii, M.P., J. W. M'Ewan, J. G. Cobbe, A. MacFarlane, C. E. Daniell, M. Cohen, H. L. Nathan, and Captain D. J. Watson. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs. R. Fletcher, J.'G. Harkness, J. Trevor, and A. D.. Kennedy.

The actingrchairman referred to Mr. Fletcher's illness, and expressed the hope of members that he would mako a speedy recovery. He also welcomed Mr. MacFarlano back to the board after his trip to tho Old Country. Later, Mr. MacFarlane thanked the chairman and members for their welcome, and incidentally talked for. a minute or two about things he had seen in tho Old Land pertaining to tho war. The bank pass-books snowed credits to current account of £40,412, imprest account £1422, and on fixed deposit £60,000. The following payments woro approved:—lnterest, sinking fund, accounts and wages, £36,866; progress payments on contracts, £11)17; salaries for January, £934. The board fixed Monday, March 1, as the date for the public drawing at tho Harbour Board offices of twenty debentures for redemption on August 28, 1915.
