The tha J\ T ew :Zealand Academy of Pino Arts, lias acquired from the Baillie Collection for the National Gallery "The Age of Innocence": bronze, by Alfred Drury, K.A., and an itueresting collection of black and white work. To enable these purchases to be made, Miss Mary Newton offered to the academy ori loan, free of interest, for one year, the sun: of <£100. This generous and pnblicspiritcd offer was gratefully accepted, a member of the council having guaranteed to raise by public subscription the necessary amount for repayment of the loan.
