Competitors must be under 16 years of age join Juno 30, Tho team will be early in August. "Officers,wishing to nominate candidates will forward without delay, to District Headr quarters a record of scores made by their nominees in (a) musketry course, (b) grouping practices at 25" or .100 yards, (c) in area-group.of othor competitions. Boys nominated should be proficient'in snapshooting, -running 100 yards, and firing tivo shots all ih.4oseo., and in" rapid adjustment of sights.. Major D. Matheson, -of Wellington, is coach and selector of the team. '■, The New'Zealand'team' has' always shot well in this competition, and, judging by the excellent progress mado by Senior Cadets in musketry. during the past yoar,-a. strong and representative coinbiriation is anticipated for the 1914 team. ;: . ■ ,; : < .'The match , will Be'?fired in three stages, viz.: (a) Snap-shootingi distance 200 yards, figure & .targets,' targets visible for 35 seconds; occulting ten seconds,'each cadet to fire seven rounds from behind cover; (b) timed slow, distance 500 yards,, figure 3 targets, visible 60 seconds, each cadet to fire five shots; (c)'attack, 500 to 200 yards, figure 3 targets. Each cadet will fire twe shots in 15 seconds at 500 yards. After a pause of 15.seconds.40 seconds will then be allowed in which to vance to 400 yards and to -fire two ehots. The advance to 300 yards and 200 yards will bo carried out in a simitar manned ' •, : ■■"■..
