SIR JOSEPH WARD
ADDRESS AT TE AROHA. (By Telegraph.—Press • Association.) Auckland, Mjirch 27. Sir Joseph Ward addressed a large meeting at the Theatre at Te Aroha. to-night, and was accorded a warm reception. His speech was much on tho lines of that delivered in Auckland on Wednesday night. . Speaking of taxation, he said that the Liberal Party always looked upon tho farmers of Now Zealand as workers, and the farmers never enjoyed such- prosperity as when the Liberal Party were in power. He objected' to members of the Reform Party prancing over the country howling about over-borrowing by the Liberals, when tho Reform Party borrowed about £12,000,000 in two years. . Mr. Massey had commented on the Liberal Government's extravagance on buildings. On this year's Estimates no loss than £223,000 was provided for public buildings. Sir Joseph Ward a vote of thanks, and, at tho conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Joseph Pohlen, who was selected to-day as the Opposition candidate for Tauranga, was introduced to the meeting. i
