SWIMMING. CLUB.'S DEBL'T. Gay crowds sat round the, shores of pretty, little Worker Bny.ycsterday niter-' neon, -.and boats, and. dingb'ys with- sum-mer-dressed' occupants .poked- about -in. large numbers on tho waters of tho bay. Tho attendance, in fact, nt the first swimming carnival of tho Worser Bay Club was decidedly encouraging! Tho outing was a very pleasant oue. Fair sport also was provided. A course.closo in to th'Q shelving shore was selected, and a springboard ;and starting-place were rigged up at the outskirts of some rocks. Tho meeting was held as the outcome of tbo visit of Mr.-: Henry and his .crusade on the importance of life-saving work. lii this .connection also n display'of "water-drill- 1 - and tho methods of rescuing drowning persons was given during the afternoon (under the direction of' Messrs. Freyberg and 11. Bountrec) by Messrs. 11. Loveston, F. Wilton, L. Salett, E.Forne, and H. Mitchell. Among the competitors in the races was tho redoubtable P.. C. Freyberg, but though, heavily handicapped, ho swam third in his heat in the 100 yds. handicap, ho withdrew .from the final because, of'heavy engagements forthcoming. At-the,'conclusion of the-meeting,, the' Mayor of the borough, Mr. J. Brodie, formally, thanked- the swimmers for having competed, .predicting, also, .'a happy .future for the club. Tho officers of tho club, who all did well in their respective spheres, were:—Messrs. J. Brodie (president), C.T.. Bell (secretary), .Mr. G. Sadd (starter), and Mr. W.-S.
