HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.
(From Ok Special Correspondent.) The'annual gymkhana in, connection with St. Augustine's Church, Petone, was held on the local Recreation Ground .yesterday. About 150' wero 'present. Xho results of. t'ho events are as under:~ 'Ladies' Skipping.—.Miss V. Southgate. Ladios' Quoits.—Mrs. Brooks. Gent's Skipping.—Mr. E. Hill. Tilting the liing (on bicycle).—Mr. Frost;' Egg and Spoon Race—Mr. R. Southgate.' Thread-' ing the Needle , Race—Mr.. 1!. . Southgate. Potato. Race.—Mr. R. Lowry. Men's Quoits—Sir. H. Martin. .100 Yards Handicap.—R. M'Connoll. 220 Yards Handicap—Mr. B: Lowry. 410 Yards Handicap.—Mr. A. Castle. The ladies assisting at the stall were the Misses V. Davies; 11. Southgatc, L. Arrowsmith, H. Mollies, J?. Russell, D.'Russell, J. Kirk, Yates, Rogers, Mesdames Brooks, Southgate, Wallis, Hill, and Yates.. .In'tho evening ]an open-air concert was held; which was a great success, the following contributing :—Misses Kibblcwhifc,Footo, Hinemoa - Wood, Mrs. Ferguson, and Alessrs. House, Midhurst, Martin. Several glees were given by the choir.
