CENTRAL MISSION.
_—. ' _ ADDRESS BY REV. J. COCKER. The Central Mission' Services yesterday were conducted by members of thoPrinntive Methodist Conference. Last evening, 'at the King's Theatre, an address was delivered by tho Rev. J. Cocker, of Auckland. ' Taking as his text the words of Joseph's -brethren, "Wo are. all true men," ho dealt most effectively with, the •subject of true manhood. Prom the illustration employed,, ho showed that true manliness consisted first in doing the right thing under all circumstances, secondly in not hiding tho sin of the past, and thirdly in a constant and ever closer Scrutiny of character. God's host gift, said the, .preacher, was an • honest man. Tho illustrations with which Mr. Cocker lightened his discourse were homely, and ho has it. fund of .sparkling anecdotes which still further assisted him in maintaining a grip on the congregation. Mr. Armstrong, of the Y.M.C.A., contributed a solo, and the Mission Silver Baiid played a spirited selection entitled "The Gospel Trumpet." On Sunday night next tha' Rev. E. 0. Blamircs will give a story recital entitled ".That Terror of a Plumber." It is a story of reformation in tlic London slums.
