The Queen Mother Alexandra, in . a message to the nation, declares that "from the depth of her poor broken heart" she wishes to express her deep-felt thanks for all their touching sympathy ■with her in her overwhelming sorrow aud unspeakable anguish. "Tho nation, too, has suffered the irreparable- loss of its best friend, father, and Sovereign, thus suddenly called away. May God give us all His divine help to hear the heaviest of crosses He has seen fit to lay upon us. His will bo done. Giro mo a thought in your prayers, which will comfort and sustain mo in all I still have to go through." After thanking every class, high and low, rich and poor, for their touching letters in token of sympathy, the Queen Mother adds:— "I confide to your care my dear son, who I know will follow his dear father's footsteps, begging you to show the same loyalty and dovotion that you showed to his father. 1 know that both my dear son and my dear daughter-in-law will do their utmost to. merit and keep it." "NO GROUNDS FOR ANXIETY." (Eec. May 12, 1.3 a.m.) London, Mny, 11. With reference to groundless rumours •which, are , still in circulation, it,is authoritatively stated that tho Queen Mother's health affords no grounds for anxiety on tho part of her medical attendants.
