EFFORTS TO REFLOAT.
A 13,000-TON LINER, By. Telegraph—Prcos Association—Oopyrtehr London, May 10. ' Continual efforts are being made to refloat tho great trans-Atlantic liner Jliniiehaha (13,443 tons gross, owned by the Atlantic Transport Company, one of the Morgan group), which on April 17, while bound from Now.York to London, ran on the rocks at tho Scilly Islands on tho Cornish coast, and was badly damaged. [The Minnehaha struck at midnight in a fog. Passengers rushed on deck in their night attire, but the captain persuaded many to return to their cabins to dress. On ascertaining the depth of water in the forehold boats were lowered and tho passengers wero rowed ashore; but the crew remained on the vessel. Of tho cargo, motor-cars, pianos, and machinery were jettisoned to lighten her, but tho Minnehaha did not float off. ' Tho Minnehaha is a steel twin screw steamer of i:t,4-13 tpns gross, built in WOO by Harlaud and Wolff, Ltd., Belfast. Her dimensions are: Length, 600 ft. 7iu.j breadth, 65ft. sin.; depth, 39ft. siu.]
