PALMERSTON DAY BY DAY.
(Trom Our Special Correspondent.! Pa/merston, May 10. The Palmerston Savage Club has arranged to open the present season with a "Ladies'- Night" on Saturday, May 21. At 1 a meeting of the committee of the (dub, Mr. E. D. Hoben was elected a life member in recognition of his services in the formation of the club.
The fortnightly meeting of the Court Manawatu was held last night, when there was a large attendance. Bro. Wickenden, C.R., presided. A grant of £5 was made to. a distressed member of tho Court, and a motion of condolence with the relatives of the late Bro. C. N. Keeling was, passed. It was decided to convey to the Premier the Court's deepest sympathy in the death of King Edward, the motion being carried in silence, and an adjournment was rnado for a week. The Catholic Young Men's Debating and Literary Society met last night, but after transacting urgent business, the usual debate was adjourned for a week, members expressing their sense of sorrow at the death of the British Sovereign.
