RESOLUTION OF PRESBYTERY.

At the meeting of the Wellington Presbytery yesterday the Moderator (the Bev. W. J. Comrie) said that, in common with tho whole nation, the Presbytery monrncd the loss of tho King. After referring to tho lato King's influence ill the cause of peace, and expressing sympathy for the bereaved Eoyai Etmily, Mr. Comrie moved:— "That the Presbytery places on record its deep sense of tho. loss sustained by our Empire and the whole world in the death of King Edwaxd VH; it thanks God for his efforts and influence for the promotion of peace; and it joins in heartfelt sympathy with the widowed Queen Alexandra and other members of the Boyal Family. The Presbytery also tenders its hearty allegiance to King George V, and prays that Divin® wisdom and grace may bo given him so that his reign may be such as to hasten the coming of the of God and of TTia Christ in all the vforld." The Kov. J. Paterson, as the senior member of the Presbytery, seconded the motion, which was carried unanimoosly. Tho Presbytery thea adjourned. MAORI TRIBUTES. Among iho messages of condolence received by the Government yesterday was ono from Mahuta, as under:— "Greetings to you. Great'is the grief and lamentation of the tribes becauso of the death of King Edward the Seventh. Greetings to you, Sir Joseph Waid, the Premier of New Zealand. Kia ara to you in the sun's meridian (meaning in the full strength of power)." On behalf _ of all Ngatrpabauwera Eemuera Heni to Urupu wired:— "Greetings to you in our sorrow. Great is the grief for King Edwtu-d the Seventh, who has ported from us and from his wife, Queen Alexandra, and her children. Convoy to Queen Alexandra and her family our sympathy and Borrow for them, who aro now orphaned. Go henoo, 0 King Edward the Seventh. Depart thou, the Sovereign Head of ail the nations under thy rulo. Depart and follow your mother, Queen Victoria. Go thou, the central pillaT of tho house. Go thou, tho commander of tho canoo; the shield of tho pooplo. Go thou, tho rock of shelter from tho storm. Go thou to your ancestors; go to your parents; go to tho great majority, who have gone before into tho night." Then follows a waiata or lamout, commencing— "He maunga tunoa nga take i uta, otc.," or "A mountain whose baso stood alono on land,"

Hall, where addresses on the subject of the death of his late Majesty King Edward ViX. will be given by the scoutmasters. Mr. Jonathan Bhodes, Mayor of North East Valley, Dunedin, was present at the proclamation, at (is Ciiy Council Chamber yesterday.
