MARAROA PUTS BACK.
FOR MEDICAL AID.
-Some little excitement was caused en the wharf last night, when it was known thai; tho Mararoa, which left for Lyttel-, ton at 8 o'clock, had put back an hour later for medical assistance. The signalman in the tower on! Queen's Wharf had been signalling by means of the. Morse lamp to the Tarawera, anchored in the stream, when suddenly the lights of a steamer were-observed through the gloom oif Point Halswell, and the signal lamp commenced to flicker: It was quickly known that the steamer was tiie Mararoa, and sho was asking for a doctor. As Dr. Henry had been summoned to the same steamer at 7 p.m. to attend one of the engineers for a minor ailment, it,, was thought that the patient may have developed more serious symptoms. It transpired, however, that the doctor had been summoned to attend a steward named Ruthberg, who was suffering from a broken blood-vessel. Dr. Watt, a passenger on tho Mararoa, rendered first aid, and Captain Manning decided io put back to the wharf and land tho patieut. Dr. Henry ordered the man's removal to the Hospital, wlieM he is reported to be doing satisfactorily. The ilararoa proceeded to Lyttcltoa again at 9.55 p.m. .
