FARMER FOUND DEAD. Duncdin, October 19. At Moneymore, Milton, on Saturday, a farmer named Thomas Mnnson was found lying dead at his gate. Deceased came from Canterbury two years ago. ACCIDENT ON MT. KAKA. Lured by the sunshine of Sunday afternoon, a party of ladies and; gentlemen scaled the wooded heights of Mt. Kaka, the .highest peak on the range immediately to the west of Khandallak. The party had just reached the top when one of the ladies, Madame Longton, head of tho dressmaking department of Messrs. Kirlscaldio and Stains, slipped and fell heavily on her leg, breaking it just above tho ankle. The predicament was painfully awkward, as it was a considerable distance from the railway station, which had to bo reached by a rough bush track, rather steep in places; but it was expedient that medical assistance should bo obtained as soon as possible, so the gentlemen of tho partyMessrs. Milsom, Pickering, and Frater — joined hands so as to make a stretcher, and in that manner carried the sufferer to Khandallah. Dr. Gibbs arrived on the sceno in response to an urgent message, and when it was found impossible to bring Madame Longton into town in his motor, no, after attending to tho broken limb, had her conveyed to town on a stretcher, reclining on a pile of hay which was placed in a cart. Madamo Longton is doing as well as can bo expected after such an experience.
