A SUBSTITUTE FOR WOOD. (DT TELEGttATH —PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPTRIGIIT.I , London) October 18. Tho Washington correspondent of "The Times" reports that tho United States Agricultural Department has made experiments which show that tho use of maize straw for the purposo of making paper pulp has proved satisfactory. It is improbable that maize straw pulp will oust wood, but it may check a further rise in the price of paper.
