AT RANGIORA.. (BY TELEGRAPII —FRES3 ASSOCIATION.) Christchurch, October 17. Another unoccupied dwelling at Raiigiort was set fire to .last night, and-..by. the-time . the fire brigade got the water, on. the ,interior of the house was ruined and part; of. tho outer walls was destroyed. The out- • break occurred at about 11 o'clock, aud an. explosion of gas drew attention to it,, the . meter being, no doubt, turned on._ The fire had then a strong hold of the interior,. show* ing that it had been started from \yitl»n. The house, a well-built six-romed one, :in Victoria Street, next to the. Drill bolonged to tho estate of the late John Donovan, and it was at about £450. . It had been untenanted for a fortnight. . Thera was an insurance in the Commercial Union office, but tho amount* was not ascertainable. Tho frequency. of incendiary. fires in unoccupied houso in Rangiora of late is becom- . ing a serious matter, and _tho police havo been unable" to attach suspicion to anyone.. At ono timo old and isolated buildings only, wero sot fire to, but the incendiary seems , now to bo turning his attention to bettor ' class places in tho closely-populated parts, and a serious conflagration may yet result.
