KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
FORTNIGHTLY ■ MEETING.
The fortnightly mooting of the Karori Borough Council was held last night, there being present :—The Mayor (Mr. C. I. Dasent), arid Councillors Lissington, Spiers, Hammond, Smith, llaine, Harris, and Bradnock. Mr. A. C. Pcarco wroto accepting appointment as representative of the Council at the next sitting of the Assessment Court. The Wellington City Electric Lighting Department intimated that two new public lamps had been erected on the Old ICarori Road, and connected with supply mains, as from May 19. Mr. C. 0. PJatts wroto on behalf, of the ratepayers concerned, asking that' a plan of Hill Street be prepared. The matter was referred to the' Works Committee. TRAMWAY MATTERS. • A complaint was received from a.resident of tho borough, with reference to the running of the morning cars on May 22. Having; mjssed the 7.10 a.m. car, ho wrfs refused pea-' mission to board the workers' car which, followed, being told that another car was behind. This car, however,-was. 20 minutes behind tho workers' car. Tho matter was reforred to the" Tramways Committee. It was decided, on the recommendation of tho Tramways Committee, that the convenience'of tho Borough would bo adequately met by discontinuing tho 10.10 and 10.40 p.m. cars, from Newtown to Karori, on Saturdays, and'retaining the 11.5 p.m. car only. . ■Tho Mayor, invited tho Councillors to express their views on tramway matters generally, so that tho foregoing and othor points worthy of consideration might be noted and 'referred to tho City' Electrical Engineer for roview. Councillor Spiers, montioned that tho question of car mileage might bo brought forward. It had been arranged previous to tho opening of the Karori Section that the City Tramway authorities should, at the expiration of twelve'-months' running, meet tho Borough Council and discuss this matter. Tho_ Mayor said that perhaps this,might bo gone into—when the general "washing-up," regarding tho amalgamation negotiations, came up. It was decided that the Mayor personally interviow tho City Electrical Engineer with regard to the general working of tho Karori Scction.
