Bannockburn Concert

A very successful concert was held at Bannockburn on Wednesday, J une 3rd. The object was to raise hinds to assist the committee of the local Girl Guides Association. The committee ladies had been very busy for some time making the necessary arTangements, and much of tlie success of the evening was duo to the efficient way these arrangements were carried out. The programme consisted of a variety of eighteen items and, although fairly lengthy, was enjoyed to the lull by all, the hall being packed to the door. One specially enjoyable item on the programme, was that giv.2ll by some of the committee in the form of a dialogue entitled "An old-fashion-ed Patty (Scotch)." .So good was it that they have been asked to stage it in Cromwell. Other items that were very much appreciated were: Duet, the Misses Robertson ; Glee, Mrs Cowev and party; Recitation, Miss H. Menzies; Orchestra, Mr L. Joily and party; Hawaiian Girls, Bannockburn girls; Song, Mr Butler; Duet, Bobbie and Mavis Smart; Song, Mr C. Johnson; Violin Solo. Mr Burrows; Old-ijashu/ned Party,- L'omn'.'.Ueu Ladies; Orchestral item, Mr L. joliy and party; The Bathroom Door, Cromwell Dramatic Company ; Song, Miss Betty McEHigott; Dance, Miss Connie Roberts; Song, Miss Joan Robertson; Glee, Mrs Cowey and party; Ghost PlayettOj Misses Toms, Campbell, and Hodson; Song, Mr Butler. At the cojnclusioin of thoi programme the president, Mrs McGregor, thanked all performers for the assistance rendered, especially those who had so willhw iy come from Cromwell, and Mr Butler, who as a stranger in the town, had iso kindly given his services in a highly entertaining manner. Supper v;vprovided by the local ladies after \yh!c'i dancing- was carried on until the cariy hours of the morning. The Lucky Spo' Waltz was won by Miss Sanders, it I Cromwell, and Mr L. Fitzgerald, oJ Bannockburn. The financial part cf tbo evening being; exceptionally large was fully appreciated by the committee.
