COMMITTEE MEETING.
A meeting- of the new committee was held immediately afterwards. Mr W.'Gair was'unanimously elected chairman, and Mr A. Stephens secretary.
Meeting's were - % fixed for the first Monday in each month, at 7 p.m. Several accounts were passed for payment.
The Department of Health forwarded a circular letter re Dental Clinics. The text of this was that owing to the financial stringency, local committees shall, through the dental committees, be required to contribute .£3O per annum for each dental officer regularly stationed in the district, in addition to present obligations. A-suggestion was embolied that a small charge should be made for each child treated. Further advice would be forwarded The committee briefly discussed the circular and decided to await further particulars. The general opinion was that it would not Countenance passing the cost pn to " the parents directly. "Of the sum mentioned Cromwell, Low burn, and Bannockburn are called upon to find ,£lO between them.''
The matter of irrigating the newlysown playing area was"j left with Mr J. Bell to attend to. It was decided to make application to the borough council for an additional water service from Ray street. The meeting- closed with the usual vote to the chair.
