The lady members opened their competition play on 3 cth April with a stroke match for the Brooch Trophy, which was won by Mrs Forsvth with a ■score of 110, 36 net 74. On Thursday fast a match was plaved for a hall, the winner being Miss Q. Gordon, with no. 36 net 74. Other good scores recorded were Miss A. Partridge 106, 27 net 79; Mrs Paterson 07, 15 net 82.
The Men's Competition was ctinmcucecl on the 2nd inst.. when there was not a lull muster 011 account of counter attractions, the event being the first Medal match which was won by D. A. Cahill, with a net score of 67, being 103 Jess 36. Other good cards returned were:—F. Forsyth 10*4, leas 36. 68; L. Mathewson 104,* less 36, 86; R. McSoriley 105 less 36, 6yj L. McDonald 89, less 19, 70. It is gratifying to see good scoreis being returned by young members of the club so early in the season. The net scores however indicate that the Handicap Committee will soon have soino adjustments to make,
For the benefit of younger players certain Rules of Coif will be quoted occasionally with the conditions governing the game, RULE 13 (Stroke Competitions) When a competitor's ball, lying within 20 yards of the hole is played and Ktriken, or is stopped by the flag stick or the person standing at the hole, the penalty shall be two strokes.
