Rifle Match
The gathering- at the Cromwell Rifle Clubs butts on Saturday, .md May, was somewhat reminiscent ot some years ago when marksmanship was at its height. Teams from Crom well, Roxburgh, and Queenstown assembled for a Irieiidly shoot. Tho weather was ideal, and the local members had all arrangements well carried out. Soup was served to the teams on arrival, and afternoon tea was dispensed later in the day. The visitors were well, pleased with the range and the surroundings. At tho conclusion of the shoot, won by Queenstowil, Major Mackenzie spoke to riflemen on the point of goodfellowship, and advised those looking for assistance to consult any old rifleman. Major Johnston replied on behalf of Cromwell. Rifleman W. Veiut won President Mackenzie’s trophy for the hignest score for Cromwell. One possible and that at 600 yards was put up during the afternoon. Detailed scores were as follows: QUEENSTOWN.
