Stronach Morris report:
Fat Cattle. —There were 170 yarded, consisting principally of medium weight Bullocks and Heifers. On account of the small yarding competition was a shade better and prices slightly firmer. Extra prune bullocks Z. 13 as 6d, prime heavy ,£ll 10s, medium /Ig to £'lo. light and unfinished £.O 10s to £7 ios, extra prime cows and heifers to £,q 12s Gd, medium £(j 10 s to ,£7, light and unfinished £4 10s upwards. Eat Sheep.—There were 2,80 c yarded, consisting principally of ewes, a number of pens ot which were of extra heavy quality. Prices lor all ’classes of sheep were much on a par with those ot last week. Extra prime wethers 13s to 1 J>;„ one pen to 15s 3d, prime heavy wethers las to ias Gel, medium wei hors 3s to 10s. interior wethers Gs to 7 s . extra, prime ewes 7s to 8s Gd. one pen 10s 3d, prime ewes 5s Gd to Gs Gd. medium 4s to ss, light from 3s upwards.
Fat T.a mbs.—There weie 1,400 yarded, a number of pens of which consisted of extra prime quality. Competition from freezing buyers was keen at last week's rates, butchers also securing a fair proportion. Ex-.ra prime lambs 14s Gd to 15s Gd, prime las to 13s. medium 10s to 1 is, unfinished 7s Gd to 8s Gd. Pigs.—There was a small entry of both Fat and Store Pigs. Fat pigs met with keen competition and prices for these were firmer by 10s per head. Stores sold on a par with last sale’s ra'sos.
Oats.—Threshing is now becoming more general and a few samples are coining 011 the market. Inquiry however is slack and ‘A’ grade Cartons am bringing- up to as on trucks, enquiry sidings.
Wheat.—Threshing- is now in full swing- and millers are {taking any lines suitable at full market rates. Fowl ■wheat meets with steady demand at up to 5-s 3d ex store, Dunedin. r Chaff. —Fair eonsigmne’htsj have been coming to hand of late and prime bright oaten sheaf is bringing «l> to Potatoes—l< air consignments have been coming forward and inquiry is confined to prijme tallies which are •slow of sale at up to ex store. Sheepskins.—\Ve held our usual fortnightly Sheepskin Sale on Tuesday last, and offered a fair sized e,it«ih>gue to a full attendance of buyers. There was good competition, more especially for full-woolled skins, which showed ail advance of id to i.td per lb on last sale’s rates, t-b full-wools to 61 d, wools to 6d, D wools to 53d. fine x-b full-wools to 6Jd, t-wools to 4td- i-wools to 4.U1. x-b full-wools to r,d, J-wools to 4-Jd, ’- wools to 4sd, fine x-b hoggets to 6d, dead hoggets to 42d. dead x-h to 4UC lambs to 43d, black -to 4c!, best pelts to 33d, inferior to 3d.
