The Labour Conference resolve! on an amendm ;:it of the Insurance Act making insurance universal and noncontributory ; also legislation for au eight-hours day for all workers; the abolition of unemployment; a national minimum wige of thirty shillings weekly; complete provision against sickness ; healthy homes for everyone, and abolition of the poor law. Preparations are being mi le by the Turks a id Allies for the resumption of fighting, The conference of Am bass i dors decided that Turkey's reply aiibrded a basis for negotiations. U it rages by suffragettes destroying letters and pipeisin pillar-boxes are increasing. In London several windows were destroyed by throwing leaden discs from catapults, from the top of a m >t>r bus. One worn in was arrested. Lloyd Gojrge, in a speech, sdd there were hundreds of thousmds, if not millions, employed on the land under conditions which ought to in ike a great empire lung its heal. The workers weie not paid enough to keep wives and children above the level of semi starvation.
