He struck his heel on a rock while bathing lately, and this is beleivcl to have affected his mind. The f reez >rs union does not intend to strike. At Otahuhu, Charles John Maho.i, 50 years of age, a railway worker, is alleged to have attempted to murder his wife and then took lysol. The couple had been separated for six months. The wife returned on Friday ami was received kindly. During the night the husband got out of bed and went out. His wife heard him return in darkness and then four violent blows were levelled at her head with probably a heavy hammer. The husband struck a light and seeing blood rushed out and took lysol. He is not expected to live. The wife may pull through. There are five children.
