DUNEDIN, THLS DAY. Senior cricket matches ia Duaedin could not be played on Saturday on account of ram. The weather hag now turned wintry. In the crickat match for the Plunket Shield Canterbury scored 277 and 192 for six wickets. Wellington scored 17 3. At the Takapuna races the cup was won by Soultoria, with La Reine second. The Englishmen scored 574 for ' ™ four wickets in the cricket match against Tasmania and declared the innings closed. Tasmania scored 121 and 112 for three wickets. Noble declines to play in the test matches. Edward Kirby a prisoner in Auck* land gaol died in the hospital under circumstances which render an in* quest necessary. James Borwick, 21 years of age was drowned in the baths at Dunsandel, Canterbury, where he bad been receiving a swimming lesson from another man. The Wellington Tramway men are still determined to strike because the council will not remove an inspector obnoxious to them.
