LOWBURN v CLYDE.

A match between teams representing the above was played at Lowburn on Saturday last under favorable weather conditions, with the exception of a strong southerly wind which sprung up during the afternoon. Lowburn won the toss and elected to bat. The opening batsmen started well and 50 runs were on before the first wicket fell. Several more useful partnerships followed up to the sixth wicket, which fell at ibl, but the remaining four wickets only added 12 runs and the innings closed for 173. Five double figure scores were recorded, the highest being Swann (retired) 45. Clyde opened disastrously, due chiefly to the effective howling of O’Driscoll, who was for a few overs practically unplayable, and the wickets went down very fast, The first wicket fell at 5, the second and third at 0, the fourth at 9, the fifth and sixth at 34, and the seventh at 35. With an hour to play, the result seemed an easy victory for Lowburn. Hall and J. Steel then became associated and made a remarkable stand, tbe latter playing a magnificent innings under the circumstances, stopping everything on the wicket with tbe utmost confidence and scoring freely from anything on the leg side, while Hall also scored freely. Despite repeated changes tbe pair kept their wickets up, and were unbeaten at the call of time, Steel 45, Hall 32. Clyde score was then 101 for seven wickets and a most interesting game resulted in a draw. The two batsmen received a well-merited ovation from their opponents on retire ing. A special word of thanks is due to the ladies of Lowburn for their generosity in supplying afternoon tea and refreshments. The following are the detailed scores
