Thu monthly meeting of the above was held in the Library on Tuesday night at 8.110. p.m. Present —Messrs Abel, Monzies, Hviue, Jolly and Harris. Owing to the absence of the chairman Mr Abel was voted to the chair. Correspondence. A letter from Mr A. Tidoy giving an estimate as to the cost of installing acetylene gas throughout the Hall, it was resolved to hold it over in the meantime. From Professor Park re book on the Geology of New Zealand. Receiv ed. From J. Braithwaite advising he had forwarded parcel of new books. Received. Reports. Mr Abel on behalf of the Works Committee said they had engaged Mr L. Arthur to do some necessary out side repairs, including pointing the mason work and making a concrete gutter at the base of the building. The painter (Mr Kemp) was doing the proscenium and other necessary repairs inside. A pproved. The treasurer’s statement showed there has been Tl2 Pis 2d spent in improvements during the month and ordinary 10s making a total ot £l9 2s 2d, leaving a credit balance at date of .£()! 4s 3d. - Received. Accounts amounting to Tl3 8 s were passed for payment. Mr Harris brought up the question of a better piano for the Hall, and stated that during a recent visit to Dunedin he had inspected a Brinsmead Grand, which was offered at a reasonable price.—Held over for a report and further consideration. The customary vote to the chair closed the meeting.
