Juuction 2 had a bii of trouble hat week. Owing to the breaking of tin hangers, the ladder went down and thei the buckets came off. Considerablt difficulty was experienced in getting up the ladder for the buckets had fcu bt taken off before it could be done. Sum*ndw sections t.re being put into ttie screen, a new screeu drive placed in position and several other new pieces of machinery fitted, after which the dredge should have a good run, Juuction 1 will start dredging again when ihe condition of the river ib favorable. Mr Troy leaves for the Rio Oati in Argentina, where he hai been appointed dredgemaater for an English company holdiug a large area of country. Mr W. Cuiien accompanies him tcioaa to South America. During the time the 1 has been his charge the dredge has won over 10,'JOUozs of gold, worth over £42,000. This is not a bad record for two years and a half. It is to be hoped that Mr Troy will be equally successful in Argentine. Wo hear trial some ground being prospoclcd by Mr >V. Laßl Saturday the directors of the Rising Sun Co. declarod a divideud of Ls per share, payable on the 18 hj inst. This company started 18 mouths ago with a debt of £1350. This has been cleared off and now the dredge starts on a dividend paying career. It is high time some of the other Clutha dredges that started behind scratch were paying out something to the shareholders. The Loch .Lomond was not dredging laßt week. A new tumbler was placed in position and a new section in the screen. When she starts again a good return is looked for. The two Shines are running vory steady. They got over TOozs last week. Thai dividend should not be far off. Tho Electric 1 got a good return las week. She is on the run where she got tho record return last year?, and it irumored that when she get* 30 or 40 yards ahead of her present position it is likely that the record will again be broken. Electric 2 is still under repair. The Clutha dredge had a lot of stoppages last week. The Punt dredge did not do so bad last week seeing only a part of the week was worked owing to having sprung a leak, but we are glad to say that it is not serious. We hear that the Junction Electric has purchased the Cromwell No". 2, and are bringing her dawn the river.
