The Hon. G. F. Richardson received his discharge hi bankruptcy to-day. Charlotte Richardson, a six years' old child, died this morning from the effects of burns received by her clothes taking fire. W. A. Fenton, son of Archdeacon Fenton, who died last week, died in Western Australia five days after his father. At Nelson, on June 18th, Miss Storey died after partaking of milk and porridge, and others who ate it were rendered ill. On analysis, it was found there was arsenic in the porridge or milk. A searching inquiry is to be made. lid ward Faulkner fell down a shaft at the Globe mine, Reefton, and was killed. A strange death is reported from Oceramika, Southland. James Dooley, 21, a sawmill hand, was attending a concert, and while the room was being cleared for a dance he hung up his overvoat and went outside. His body was found in a shallow creek a short distance away. No marks were apparent ou it. A Government caucus was held to-day. In view of the snatch division on Friday, by which the Government-majority was reduced to six on the no-confidence motion, members were urged to be more punctual in attendance. It was decided not to hold a caucus next Monday unless seven members requested the Premier to call a meeting. George Fisher declined to attend the Government caucus because J. Hatcheson, his fellow member for Wellington, was invited. It is stated that out of 2,000 claims made by. old soldiers and volunteers, the Commissioner reports favorably on only 110.
