Stronach Bros, and Morris, report for week ending, sth May, 1898, as follows: Fat Cattle.—ls2 head yarded. There was a good demand and prices all round showed some improvement, prime bullocks being 15 1 to 20s higher than last week. Best bullocks sold at £8 to £9 12s 6d ; medium to good, £6 to £7 15s ; small ; £4 5s to £5 15s; best cows and heifers, £5 10-* to £7 = ; medium, £4 to £5 5s ; others, £2 to £3 15 J . Pigs.—94 forward, all selling very well at fall rates. Suckers sold at 6s to 11s ; slips, 12s to 15s; stores, 20s 6d to 245; porkers 25s to 28s ; baconers, 34s to 455. Rabbitskins. —The market continues firm, prices on Monday again showing an advance of Id per lb. Incoming winter greys sold at 13d to summers, 6d to suckers, 2£d to 4£d ; blacks, to 15Jd per lb. Horsehair, to 15f d per lb. Sheepskins.—Market firm. Best dry crossbreds, 4s 3d to 5s 6d ; medium, 3s to 4s ; others, Is 9d to 2s 9d ; pelts, 6d to Is 6d ; best dry merinos, 3s 3d to 4s 6d ; medium, 2s,to 3s ; interior. Is 6d to Is lOd ; pelts, 4d to Is 4d ; green crossbreds, to 2s lOd ; lambskins, to 2s 6d. Hides.—-A good demand exists and all coming forward are readily disposed of. Quotations ; Prime heavy ox, 3id to 4d ; medium, to 3d ; light and inferior, Hd to 2Jd per lb. Tallow.—Market steady. Best rendered mutton, 12s 6d to 14s ; medium, lls to 12s ; interior, 9s to 10s 6d ; rough fat, 8s to 10s per cwt. Wheat.—The market has been excited during the week and prices have improved to the extent of 2d per bushe 1 . Quotations ; Prime milling velvet, 4s 9d to 4s lid ; medium, 4s 7d to 4s B£d ; Prime Tuscan and red sorts, 4s 8d to 4s lOd ; medium, 4s 6d to 4s 7d ; fowl wheat, 3 s 8d to 4s ; do. broken, 3s to 3s 6d per bushel (sacks in). Oats.—The market has again improved and prices at present are firm at l£d per bushel above those ruling last week. Quotations : Prime milling, 2s 5d to 2s 6d ; good to best feed, 2s 3d to 2s 4d ; medium, 2s to 2s bushel (sacks extra). Barley.—There is a strong demand and all offering is readily placed. Quotations : Prime malting, 4s 9d to 5s 3d ; medium, 4s 4d to 4s 8d : feed and milling, 2s 6d to 3s 6d per bushel (sacks extra). Chaff. —Owing to the large quantities coming forward prices have declined about 5s to 7s 6d per ton during the week.
