'• Since, the last annual mooting tlio Great War has ended satisfactorily. With the signing of the armistice it was hoped that last bowling season would l have been more successful, but the season proved a very interrupted one. First came the epidemic in the early part of the season, and then followed the floodi of January, which kept players off the green for a few weeks. Members patiently put up with these inconveniences, and towards the latter end of the season better conditions prevailed, and members availed themselves of the green to the fullest extent. "During the. off-season the green -was top-dressed! by Mr A. Buchanan, Who wade a. spleuidid jo'b, the- green showing a markcld improvement on the previous year, but the tlood of January, which flooded the green, -left it somewhat tricky in places. Tho thanks of the clu'b arc due to Mr Buchanan for his services in top-dressing the green, which were givetii gratis.

"Very few matches were played during the season. The annual match against tho Caledonian Club 'was. played on the Balclutiha green, and resulted in a wini for your club. Three matches were played on the local green against Stirling, " Mosgiel, and Kaitangata, all of which were won by Balchitha; while the. only match played away from home —that -against Kaitangata at Kaitangata —was lost. Your club owe visits to. a number of clubs, and' air effort should be. made to repays these' during the coming season, "The various club competitions were played off during; the season and. resulted as follows: —Championship singles, won by Mr John Ramsay (for the second year in succession); president's (Mr W" Guest) prize, won by Mr R. Murray; vice-president's (Mr W. Almond) prize, won 'by Mr A. Bishop. '' The competitions for the ferns and feathers, which caused considerable interest in previous seasons, d-'icll lvot- take place. The ferns and feathers have gone astray, only one feather being handed' in to the secretary; but an- effort should be made to renew this form of play during the coming season-, as it induces ni'ucli Keener interest, in the game, and! is also of financial benefit to the clu'b.

'' Early in the season the secretary (•Mr 'A. White) resigned, having removed from the district, and' Mr P. J-. -<srreißney. was elected to the position. Mr A. Bryaiit (junior vice-president) also resigned; he having removed to Christchurch, and Mr Jas. Watt was elected in his place on the committee. "For the first time the club tried Hie experiment of a sole selector, Mr Jas. Watt being 1 appointed to the position, and l lie carried out 'his duties' very satisfactorily. "Members of your club took part in tournaments at several centres, but did mot secure any of the prize-money. "Messrs J. E, 0. 'Loch-head (who was treasurer of the club when he enlisted) and M. Christie (members of the club) have returned from active service, and we hope to again see, them participate in the good 1 old! game. "The .balance-sheet shows the financial position of the club to 'be very satisfactory. Commencing, the year with a deibit balance of £57 (is lid, wo close •with a debit 'balance of £+7 Os fld, showing a net profit, on. the year of £9 19s 6d. with £2 2s outstanding. The' receipt* for the year were £76 6s. and the expenditure £66 6s 6d. "The committee have decided to put in a concrete floor to the verandah of the pavilion, andi this work will be put in hand shortly by a working bee of members.
