FBO* OUB OWN CORBESrONDINT. MINERS' UNION. The unusually large attendance at the union office last Friday evening indicated that something more than the ordinary routine of affairs was about to be set before the meeting. A notice posted at the mine stated that members would be asked to decide whether the present executive should reign, and also whether the union should withdraw from the 'Miners' Federation. This business, however, was only partly discussed on account of other matter occupying the time of the meeting much longer than was anticipated. It transpired thai through a clerical error the chairman's declaration of the election for executive officers had been omitted from the union records, and it was with a desire to rectify the omission that the first motion 'was tabled. Several members offered to resign in order to put matters on a proper basis, hut the majority of those present refused to accept any resignations, being satisfied to allow the position to remain as at, present until the next election time arrives. The question of withdrawal from the federation was left over for two months. It was decided at the meeting to approach the employers for the advance offered by them at the recent conference. Mr Braidwood (the union secretary) was instructed to correct alleged misstatements contained in a letter he had written and which was published 4n various newspapers throughout the Dominion. It was agreed to allow press notes of union business to be taken at the meetings and leave it to the discretion of the press representative to cut out any notes which he considers should be left entirely with the aemhers themselves. =
