LOVELLS FLAT.
FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT The harvest thanksgiving services were held in the church on Sunday, April 18. The Rev. A. Morton occupied the pulpit both morning and evening, ami preached to large congregations. The church was tastefully decorated with flowers and grain, and was a.credit to the ladies who had undertaken the work. On Friday evening a harvest festival and sale of produce was held in the Coronation Hall, with the result that £24 was raised —£11 for the home -mission fund and £l3 for the Belgian Relief Fund. Mr Morton, as chairman, in a brief speech explained the object of the gathering. A musical programme followed, items being contributed by Mesdames Robson, Kerr, Murray and Bowie, Misses Anderson, Cooper, Lowery and Tweed and Messrs Tweed, Clark and Robson. A shooting competition was closely contested, the prize—a prime wether —being won. by Mr D. Bowie. Nail-driving and candle-light-ing competitions caused great amusement. The table was laid on the stage, where the ladies dispensed the neverfailing cup of tea for sixpence. Although more successful than last year's function, a great deal more money should and could be raised for the Belgians. Some of the farmers do not realise their obligations to the. country that put up such a gallant defence.
