GOLF.

Golf is about the only out-door game which the weather will allow but its voraries are pretty constant, mul the membership is still increasing. At present there is being played a tournament- comprising a match for ladies and one for, men. Very few rounds have yet been played off, - although the time allotted expires on Saturday. So far as the men are concerned, at least, there is a strong favourite for the coveted place—a comparative beginner who has been getting sores under (50 and who has close on the limit of a handicap. However, the " numbers " are not yet up, and another dark horse may cause a surprise. One of the men's rounds played yesterday ended in n very close thing, being won l \ 1 stroke. The eommitlee seem to be losing no time in having the greens put in order and the fencing is well on its way.
