SPECIAL MEETING.
A special meeting of the council was then held, when Mr Calder moved — " That a special rate be made over tbe Lakes drainage district of six-sixteenths of a penny in the £ ; such rate to be an annually recurring rate for the period of 26 years to repay a loan of LSOO sterling to be raised under ' The Local Bodies Loan Act 1886 ' for drainage works in said district ; such rates to commence on the Ist day of April 1894 and end on the 31st day of -March in each year, and to be payable to the collector in one sum on tbe first day of September in each year." The annual balance sheet, duly audited and certified to as correct by the auditor, was laid on tbe - table, when it was agreed tbat tbe same be signed by the chairman and published,
