Wheat. —There is no new feature in the market. Millers are the only purchasers, and prices continue in their favour, they operating only for present requirements. Quotations f.o.h. at Lyttelton have tempted some of the buyers to purchase there for consumption locally, small shipments of which are arriving weekly, and said to be costing less than local-grown can be purchased at ; anyhow it is slightly interfering with the disposal of medium quality. Prime is readily placed, and at qno'ations, which are : For best Tuscan and velvet, 2a 8d to 2s 9d, extra choice a shade more ; medium to pood 2s Gd to 2a 7d ; inferior to medium 2s to 2s 4'l (ex store, sacks weighed in, terms). Oats. — The nm-kefc has slightly improved, not because of any demand from outside markets, but simply owing to growers being now less ; disposed to quit at the low prices ruling lately. Prices have slightly improved, indicating a firmer tone. Quotation : For prime milliner Is 5.W to Is Gd ; beat bright short feed Is 4Ad to Is 5d ; medium to good Is 3 Ad to Is 4Jd ; inferior ls2Jd to Is 3d ; black Is 4d to is 4|d (ex store, sacks extra, net). Barley.— Maltsters being supplied will only purchase exceptionally fine samples. Quotations : For prime 3s 9rl to 4s ; medium nominally 3s to 3s 6d ; milling 2s 3d to 2s 9d ; feed Is 6d to la 9d (ex store, sacks extra). Grass Seed. — Market for ryegrass quiet, and prices in favour of buyers. Quotations : For go.od to best machine dressed 2s 9d to 3s 3d ; choice gunran teedf perennial 3s 6d to 4s (ex store). — Corksfoot is low in stock and prices "firm — say, for best dressed s^d to 6d ; medium 4d to 5d per lb (ex store). Potatoes. — Delireries larger, and prices easier. Best only fetching L 2 15s to L 2 17s 6d ; medium L 2 10s to L 2 12s 6d ; kidneys for seed L 3 7s 6d to L 3 17s 6d per ton (ex 9tore, sacks weighed in, net). _ Dairy Produse.— Market steady at late quotations, but only a moderate amount of business passing. Quotations : For prime salt butter dairymade 6d to 6.V1 ; medium 3id to 4M ; factory 9d to JOd'per lb. Factory cheese: Medium size 4|d to 4f d ; loaf do 4£d to 5d ; dairymade 2d to 4d per lb. Flax.— Business is almost" at s standstill. There are no buyers for export, and, with local manufacturers being pretty well supplied, transactions are limited. Quotations : For medium to good Ll3 10s to Ll4 10s ; inferior nominally LlO to Ll2 per ton (ex store.
