Regal City to take another positive step along trail

Auckland correspondent Regal City looks set to complete a hattrick of wins and take another positive step along the W. S. Cox Plate trail when he contests the Trelawney Stud Foxbridge Plate at Te Rapa tomorrow. Since being brought back into work a couple of months ago by his trainer, Jim Gibbs, Regal City has had as his long range mission the Cox Plate, Melbourne’s big weight-for-age event in October. Regal City began this campaign with a

superb effort to score under the topweight of 59kg at Te Rapa last month and he has thrived since then.

“Naturally he’s still a long way off peak fitness, but he’s ready for another top run on Saturday,” said Gibbs. “He’s so honest.”

Regal City has gone some of his best races on the Te Rapa track. Apart from his latest success, he also took the Cambridge Stud International Stakes (2000 m in February.
