Maui B deal signed
PA New Plymouth Shell BP and Todd Oil Services and the combined construction unions have signed a head agreement for the construction of the Maui B gasfield platform project in offshore Taranaki.
The agreement is a statement of intent for both parties to co-operate to achieve schedule milestones and set out a framework on which to ensure compliance with
future project agreements.
The combined construction unions advocate, Mr Dave Carrigan, said the agreement opened up a new dimension of commitments from both parties to work together to ensure a successful project. "It is important that you can solve problems before problems occur and that is what the document is, namely a broad-based intent on how the project should proceed,”
he said. The agreement was an essential step in the over-all project approval and set the scene for the negotiation of industrial agreements for Maui B, he said. The details of the agreement, which was initiated by Shell BP and Todd, would be made public early this week when the document had been countersigned by the 11 unions involved.
