Twenty-three drown
Twenty-three people had drowned in New Zealand this year to January 31, according to statistics recently released by the Water Safety Council. Recreational pursuits still calimed the majority of drowning at 15, while eight involved such accidents as pre-school drownings in pools and those who drowned while trying to rescue others.
