THE FISHERIES (CHATHAM ISLANDS ROCK LOBSTER CLOSED SEASON) NOTICE (NO. 4892) PURSUANT TO Section 85 of the Fisheries Act 1983, the Director-General of Agriculture and Fisheries, after consultation with the Director-General of Conservation, hereby gives the following notice. NOTICE 1. Title and commencement - This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (Chatham Islands Rock Lobster Closed Season) Notice and shall come Into force on the Ist day of March, 1989. 2. Interpretation — In this notice, the term: “Rock Lobster” means those fish of which the scientific names are Jasus edwardsii (commonly known as the spiny or red rock lobster) and Jasus verreauxi (commonly known as the packhorse or green rock lobster). “Chatham Islands rock lobster fishery” means the rock lobster fishery bounded by all that area of New Zealand fisheries waters enclosed by a line commencing at the point of 40 deg. 25’S and 178 deg. W on the outer limits of the exclusive economic zone; then proceeding along the outer limits of the zone to the point 51 deg. 50’S and 174 deg. 25’E; then proceeding in a straight line to the point 50 deg. 50’S and 174 deg. 25’E; then proceeding in a straight line to the point 50 deg. 55’S and 173 deg. 50’E; then proceeding along the outer limits of the zone to the point 48 deg. 15’S and 174 deg.
