Rosy Score stays best

Rosy Score capped off a consistent form background with a deserved win in the Tinwald Veterinary Hospital Pace at Ashburton on Saturday. Five places back on the outer to the home turn, the five-year-old Patron Score mare kept up a bold finish for Ricky May to score by 1% lengths in 4:11.5 for the 3200 m.

Rosy Score was recording her sixth win from 25 starts for her Winchmore trainer, Derek Dynes, who races her in partnership with Mrs Joan McLaughlin, the wife of the Mount Hutt trainer, Colin McLaughlin. Rosy Score is from Morose, a half-sister to two of Mr McLaughlin’s star pacers of the 19705, Royal Ascot (1:58.4) and

Nimble Yankee (1:58). Admiral Charles, in the open over the first 1200 m, rallied gamely to take second, a nose in front of the pacemaker from the 2300 m to the straight, High Gun. The backmarker, Mister Gaines, was a good fourth after moving up to give Admiral Charles cover from the 2000 m.
