Vivisection
Sir — While Craig E. Franklin is correct about the methods of radio-immuno-assay use as a compromise “alternative” method for research, I wish to make it clear that some “supposed” anti-vivisection organisations (both in New Zealand and other countries) push “alternatives” before total abolition of vivisection. It is similar to putting the cart before the horse. The N.Z. Anti-vivisection Society has no truck with societies whose leaders have been former vivisectionists who have been allocated positions to keep vivisection continuing by such statements as that they advocate “eventual” abolition on moral and ethical grounds only. Infil-
trated societies have a vested interest in keeping vivisection alive and strong while pretending that they are fighting it. It appears that Craig E. Franklin is unaware of the radical moves of other countries to be rid of the fraudulence, futility, and furtiveness of vivisection, once and for all. — Yours, etc., NATALIE TAYLOR, Christchurch Co-ordinator, N.Z. Anti-vivisection Society. February 23, 1989.
