Understanding the personality through bioenergetics

Bioenergetics is a way of understanding the personality in terms of the body and its energy processes. It can be used to help people resolve their emotional problems and realise their potential for pleasure and joy in living.

Eleanor Greenlee and Helen Fleming are bioenergetic therapists working in California. They will be running a workshop in Christchurch this weekend, March 3 to 5. Cooking for

athletes

The right diet can give athletes that winning edge in top competition, say Janne Pasco and len Hellemans.

Janne and len are Christchurch dietitians who are starting a Food On The Run course on Monday, March 6. len is also a sports nutritionist.

The three-week lessons, for triathletes, body builders, rugby players, swimmers and other sportspeople, will cover recipes and information on daily food intake, carbohydrate loading, pre-race eating and recovery.

Pre-school music and movement

The musician, Lizzie Cook, is starting up her pre-school music and movement classes on Saturday, March 11, at 10 a.m. and at 11 a.m.

Lizzie’s popular classes encompass music games, mime and movement, singing, finger play, poetry and rhymes, rhythm, co-ordination, fantasy, individual selfexpression and group activities.

Children should be aged between 2 1 / 2 and 4 years and be accompanied by a parent or carer. The em-

phasis is on participation, but Lizzie is gently understanding of shy children.

Tecorians Tecorians are people from all walks of life who

meet to develop their confidence and communication skills.

Hornby Tecorians meet every first and third Wednesday of each month at 8 p.m. in the library of South Hornby School, Shands Road.

Jazz club

Jazz lovers are invited to sample a new jazz club which has started on the corner of Selwyn Street and Hazeldean Road.

Christchurch’s best jazz musicians play at Hazel’s Jazz Club, open from 8 p.m. until midnight monthly, on Thursday evenings.

Waterside festival
