NZOG to abandon Taranaki well
PA New Plymouth New Zealand Oil and Gas the operator of the Rotokare-1 oil exploration well east of Eltham, has confirmed the well will be plugged and abandoned. The drilling rig will be moved south to Mokoia-1, 10km south-east of Hawera. Rotokare-1 is near the productive Waihapa field and produced several hydrocarbon shows, but not in sufficient quantity to warrant testing. However, an NZOG spokesman said, the well enabled the largest structure to be redefined ready for another well to be drilled Rotokare-1 reached 3233 m. After Mokoia-1 NZOG is expected to drill in its newly-acquired areas in North Taranaki - around the Okato and InglewoodTariki areas.
