South Island ski-field reports received yesterday by the New Zealand Snow Centre in Christchurch were: Mount Hutt: snow base 30cm; last fall September 8,20 cm; spring snow; all facilities operating; chains to be carried. Obau: Open; chains to be carried. Remarkables: snow base 55cm; spring snow; ail facilities operating; chains required. Cardrona: Spring snow; all facilities operating; chains. Temple Basin: snow base 80cm; two tows in downhill basin; Temple tow access only. Broken River: Open; all facilities operating except access tow; goods lift 'operating until 9.30 a.m. Tasman Glacier: Spring snow conditions; ski planes subject to weather. Fox Glacier: Open; ski planes and helicopter operating; advance reservations necessary. Mount Cheeseman: Closed for season.
