Three shots behind
PA Seoul The New Zealand shooter, John Woolley, is three shots off a possible total of 75 after the first round of the clay target skeet competition yesterday. While Woolley is in equal twenty-sixth place on 72 the other New Zealand competitor in the event, John Farrell, was four off on 71 in thirtyeighth overall position. The shooting manager, Graeme Smith, said the strategy for the second day of competition today was for Wolley and Farrell to make the top 24 positions.
“They’re just within a target of making that. Providing they can hold form with any luck one of them will make it into the top 24,” Smith said. The top 24 shooters then fire 50 targets tomorrow morning. The top eight competitors then contest the final in the afternoon. Five shooters were tied for first place, Daniel Carlisle (United States), Alfonso De Iruarrizaga (Chile), Hendrikus Dompeling (Holland), Alexandre Tecerkassov and Valeri Timokhine (Russia), at the end of the first day.
