‘Dracula’
PART TWO
By
“Rowena” VB,
of Kaiapoi Wide-eyed I glanced over his shoulder as I glimpsed a black car purring quietly around the corner ... Stunned, I realised it was the same car that had followed me to the train station yesterday — I took a cautious step backwards watching his face for a reaction I didn’t get any — his face remained expressionless but his eyes seemed to speak for themselves. I took - another step backward, a smile (or was it a sneer?) toyed his mouth, as he joined in my game and took a step forward towards me.
Whipping around I dashed headlong into the dark alley and ran for what life was worth, tripping over stones and bumping against the walls. My shoulder bounced
against another brick and I whirled around panting. Everyting was quiet — only the faint echo of dripping water, suspended in the air. Click .. .click ... slow deliberate footsteps approached me. I backed away wide eyed — I couldn’t see who was coming ...
I bumped into something — whirling around I cried out — a wall! It was a dead end ... I beat my hands against the wall, sobbing hysterically and the footsteps kept coming closer and closer. I choked my sobs as a pair of hands settled with a deathly grip on my shoulders. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw the head descend towards my neck. And my head strained back as the teeth sank in, seeping up my blood — a vampire ... I thought as I slipped unconsciously from his grasp.
