South Africa
Sir, —In reply to Mr Emerson (February 18), entrance into educational institutions is based on colour in South Africa and so are job opportunities and promotions. Mr Emerson seems to
know of equalities in salaries, especially amongst teachers and nurses. What the blacks have been trying to achieve for decades, he has simply determined by the stroke of his pen! Contrary to his groundless opinion, there is no law that grants equality in South Africa. The only law is apartheid. All South African policies are based on inequality. I suggest that Mr Emerson joins Mr Walker on a fact-finding mission to South Africa. — Yours, etc., A. HOOSEN. February 21, 1988.
